At Sano, we are in a phase of growth and seeking a Head of Grant Office to spearhead our efforts in securing new substantial research funding and guiding the centre’s long-term development. 

This pivotal role requires a combination of leadership, collaboration, and innovation. The successful candidate will work closely with scientists, institutional partners, and international funding agencies to further Sano’s mission. 

As the Head of Grant Office, you will play a key role in acquiring funding from national and international sources (including Horizon Europe and ERC programs). Working hand in hand with researchers and other Sano teams, you will ensure the financial sustainability and strategic growth of the center. You will report directly to the General Manager and supervise one senior grant specialist at the start. 

What are you going to do?

Your key responsibilities: 

  • Lead and manage the internal Sano Grant Office, overseeing the full lifecycle of research grants (pre-award and post-award); 

  • Develop and implement grant strategies to maximize external funding opportunities. Identify funding opportunities, including EU framework programs, bilateral and national grants; 

  • Support researchers of all levels in identifying, applying for, and managing national and international research grants; 

  • Create and manage the project documentation according to the rules and regulations of a given program (together with Project Management team); 

  • Actively participate in the creation of R&D consortia and the management of their operations; 

  • Oversee the preparation of periodic and final reports; 

  • Promote best practices in grant administration and contribute to the institution’s research strategy and internationalization. 

 

What do we require?

As our successful candidate you should have: 

  • Higher education degree (Master’s or PhD), preferably in science, economics, public administration, or management. 

  • At least 5 years of experience in acquisition of research funding on a similar position in a European, international research institution; 

  • Minimum of 3 years in a leadership or a coordination role; 

  • International experience with proven record of succesful submissions of EU grants (especially in context of acquisition of European and international grants) is a must; 

  • Fluency in English; 

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and strategic thinking skills; 

  • Passion for supporting scientific innovation through sustainable funding.

  • Full time (40h per week) contract of employment under Polish Labor Law. By default, all new Sano employees are offered a 3-month trial period and a subsequent contract for 1 year following a positive review; 

  • Salary depending on experience: 45 000 – 55 000 EUR gross annually (16 000 – 20 000 PLN gross monthly). 

  • Possibility to work in a hybrid-mode – working remotely from anywhere in Europe with regular visits to Krakow, relocation support if required.
